Holocaust Memorial Day

"Eighteen governments have legislated January 27 as an annual Holocaust Memorial Day."

This Memorial  is particularly important in light of what is happening in Egypt and other Arab countries this last week.

I can't say I heard that much about it this year, perhaps because I came home from work with a bad cold and was barely thinking right.

But I came on it today though that wonderful website Yad Vashem
As the Jewish people’s living memorial to the Holocaust, Yad Vashem safeguards the memory of the past and imparts its meaning for future generations.
"And to them will I give in my house and within my walls a memorial and a name (a "yad vashem")... that shall not be cut off." (Isaiah, chapter 56, verse 5)
I came across this website back in 2009 when I heard about Righteous Among the Nations, researching for Anti-Semitism in Egypt and Israel is not the enemy of Palestinians. This led to reading about the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, a virulent Jew-hater who partnered with Hitler and was instrumental in forming regiments of Bosnian Muslim Waffen SS, as well as others from the Arab world; he aided Hitler & Eichmann to further his evil  aim of eliminating the Jewish people. (I posted a picture of the Bosnian Muslim Waffen in their SS uniforms here).

I wanted to know more about those who protected Jews at great risk to themselves. I found that there were some Bosnian Muslims who had helped, and they are honoured as Righteous Among the Nations.

From Yad Veshem:
On January 27, 1945, soviet forces liberated the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, discovering the largest Nazi killing center in Europe. Auschwitz has become a symbol of the holocaust, representing the depths of man's inhumanity to man. Eighteen governments have legislated January 27 as an annual holocaust memorial day. In November 2005, the United Nations passed a resolution to mark January 27 as an international day of commemoration to honour the victims of the holocaust, and urged member states to develop educational programs to impart the memory of this tragedy to future generations.
We live at a time when Iran seeks to destroy Israel, and their proxies Hamas and Hezbollah likewise, and the Muslim Brotherhood will surely unleash Egypt's armed forces against Israel if they can take power there and impose their Islamist ideology on that country.

If that isn't bad enough, the mindless leftists in the UK & US refuse to see the reality: "it's all about the West Bank" they whine, when a look at the facts will clearly show that the anti-semitism and hatred was whipped up a long time before 1948 (the War of Independence).

But I find that these western apologists for terrorism are not interested in the facts of a matter - only their ideologies.

There is a connection - I call Mohammad Amin al-Husayni, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, the Father of Islamic Terrorism, there may be other claimants but as far as I know he takes the title:
The terrorist extremist organisation known as the Muslim Brotherhood" was established in Egypt in 1928, and Amin Al-Husseini becomes a central figure and ideological inspiration for the group, which spawned the terrorist groups "Egyptian Islamic Jihad" and Hamas The Muslim Brotherhood preaches Wahhabi Islam, which justifies violent means to rid the ‘Muslim world’ of its non-Islamic element. It envisions a Pan-Islamic Empire, where strict Islamic law rules over all.
In 1933 Arab Nazi political groups spring up throughout Middle East. Mohammad Amin al-Husayni became a favoured ally of Hitler, and was appointed direct responsibility for forming divisions of Waffen-SS, consisting of hundreds of thousands of Muslims, who fought for Nazi Germany. [1]

I've put January 27 in my calendar; I will honour the day.

[1] Israel is not the enemy of Palestinians.

Child Warriors - A Moving Letter

On Monday the National Post (NP) published a deeply disturbing article: "Taliban Deploy Children, Military Says"
"... three separate explosions in Kandahar in the past few weeks in which as many as 12 Afghan children were blown up as they were being taught how to make or place improvised explosive devices in what one Canadian officer described as an "IED training camp."
"IED training camp" (Improvised Explosive Devices), what an obscenity. The depths of evil that Islamic terrorists have descended to; the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India; Al-Qaeda in Iraq; Hamas and Hezbollah in Gaza and Syria, the list of evil goes on.

Today the NP published a letter in response titled "Child Warriors"; I was very moved by this letter so I am posting it in its entirety, and let it speak for itself.
The Taliban's use of children on their front lines is a tactic taken straight from the pages of the Palestinians' jihad manual. For years, Palestinian terrorist groups have used children as human shields, launched rockets at Israel from preschools in Gaza, and sent children out to do the most dangerous jobs, in the hopes that they would die and the Israelis would be labelled "baby killers."
As former Israeli prime minister Golda Meir noted:
"Peace will come when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us."
She also stated,
"We can forgive you for killing our sons. But we will never forgive you for making us kill yours".
Elana Aptowitzer, Ottawa.
It must be said that the Palestinian tactic of using their children to fight a war by indoctrinating them to become suicide bombers has been rewarded by other Arab and Muslim nations by gifts of money, praise and ideological support. Hamas & Hezbollah, are the proxies for Iran and its chief export which is hatred, and the rockets to to kill civilians.

My thanks to Mrs. Aptowitzer for her letter and bringing the quotes of Gold Meir to light, the letter can be read here.

Lux et Veritas: The Couragious Golda Meir: "The Couragious Golda Meir
A wonderful story about the courage of Golda Meir and the cowardice of Austrian Chancellor Kreisky."

Israel is not the enemy of Palestinians

JP reports today on Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at the opening of the Knesset's winter session on Monday: Netanyahu: PA must recognize Israel as Jewish state for there to be peace.
"We are willing to work hard for peace," but added that "Without recognition of Israel as the Jewish state, we simply cannot reach peace."
I have been saying for some years now:
Israel is not the enemy of the Palestinian people.
I believe that to be true to the bottom of my heart; so when I saw this same statement in Natanyahu's speech it resonated deeply within me.
"This is also the hour for leaders of the Arab states in the area to tell the truth to their people - that the State of Israel is not the enemy of Islam."
Israel is not the enemy of the Palestinian people. Who is? I offer this short list:

Egypt’s top cleric to ban veils in schools

An announcement today from the Muslim Canadian Congress (MCC) asking Ottawa to introduce legislation to ban the wearing of masks, niqabs and the burka in public.

This arises from an announcement 2 days ago from Sheikh Mohamed Tantawi, dean of al-Azhar university,  considered Islam's chief teaching universities.

Sheikh Mohamed Tantawi, dean of al-Azhar university, called full-face veiling a custom that has nothing to do with the Islamic faith.

Nicolas Sarkozy, the president of France, said that burqas are "not welcome" in France, in June of this year.

Sarkozy stated that:
"In our country, we cannot accept that women be prisoners behind a screen, cut off from all social life, deprived of all identity."
The burqa has been banned in French public schools since 2004, and we should ban it here in Canada too, but I doubt that any Canadian government would have the cojones to do it. I hope I am wrong, but it is hard to imagine it happening; yet it is an essential law that we need to set a level playing field in our schools and on our streets.

Anti-Semitism in Egypt

Farouk Hosni, Egypt's Culture Minister for 20 years, failed in his bid to lead the to lead the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

But this had nothing to do with his suitability for the position but it "was a Zionist plot"; complained Mr. Hosni, a notion echoed by much of the Egyptian media and government officials.

We learn that this was a "Western-Zionist conspiracy."

Egypt's Coptic Christians call for general strike on September 11 to protest persecution

The plight of Coptic Christians

Jihad Watch posts that Christians in Egypt will strike for the right to build their churches...

"Traditional Islamic law for dhimmis forbids them to build new churches."

"Christians in Egypt still suffer from a cultural hangover of that law."

(NOTE: in many Islamic countries no churches, crosses or even praying in public are tolerated; in Egypt new churches were not allowed.)
